Group 1 DC · 12V/24V hydraulic power packs
For mobile equipment and 12/24V battery applications: lifting, tippers, platforms.

This is the line for on-vehicle work: the DC motor delivers the strong starting torque needed to lift immediately, a contactor sized for the actual current draw switches it safely, and the circuit follows the equipment’s function (single acting with gravity lowering, or double acting with a solenoid valve). Reservoirs from 1.5 to 30 litres, made to measure when chassis-to-body space demands it; pendant pushbutton or radio control.
The 12V vs 24V choice is almost always made by the vehicle (our dedicated guide explains when each pays off); the pump is chosen for the required cycle time. Mind the cycle: DC motors work in bursts with cooling pauses, so if the application demands long or frequent operations, sizing must reflect the actual duty cycle (on-time versus cooling pauses), which is exactly what we check in every quotation.
Up to 230 bar continuous, peaks above 250 bar
More displacement means more flow but a lower maximum pressure: high pressures come from small displacements.
| Pump | Displacement (cm³/rev) | Max continuous pressure |
|---|---|---|
| Group 1, single pump PA | 0.9 to 2.6 | 210 bar |
| Group 1, single pump PA | 3.2 to 4.2 | 190 bar |
| Group 1, single pump PA | 4.8 to 5.8 | 170 bar |
| Group 1, single pump PA | 8.0 | 160 bar |
| Group 1, single pump PA | 9.8 | 130 bar |
| Group 1, reversible pump PR | 1.1 to 2.7 | 230 bar |
| Group 1, reversible pump PR | 3.2 to 4.2 | 210 bar |
| Group 1, reversible pump PR | 4.8 to 5.8 | 190 bar |
| Group 1, reversible pump PR | 8.0 | 160 bar |
What the customer needs is force, not pressure. A Ø50 cylinder at 210 bar pushes about 41 kN (just over 4 tonnes); a Ø63 cylinder gives the same force at 130 bar, about 40 kN. When you need both force and speed, the cylinder bore is the lever.
Typical industries
Components compatible with this line
Hydraulic pumps
Gear pumps for compact power packs: a wide displacement range for every flow/pressure combination.
Electric motors
Single/three-phase AC and 12/24V DC motors coupled to the pump via dedicated kits, for continuous or intermittent duty.
Manifolds
Aluminium manifolds for compact power packs, machined to drawing with configurable cavity count.
Modular elements & solenoids
Modular blocks, NG6 solenoid valves, coils and connectors to build the power pack control logic.
Reservoirs
Plastic and steel reservoirs, horizontal and vertical, from 1.5 to 30 litres, with dedicated plugs and accessories.
Suction & return
Suction and return kits matched to the reservoir: strainers, filters and fittings sized to pump flow.
Valves & plugs
Relief, check and lowering valves plus plugs for complete power pack circuit control.
Power pack accessories
Gauges, pressure switches, level indicators, heat exchangers and contactors: everything that completes the power pack.
Function plugs
Cartridge function plugs for manifold cavities: they seal the cavities the circuit does not use or give them a function, such as a 1/4" BSP port.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Group 1 DC line for?
Running hydraulics on board a vehicle at 12V or 24V: dump bodies, liftgates, platforms. S3 intermittent-duty DC motors from 0.5 to 3 kW, pressures up to 230 bar continuous with small displacements.
12V or 24V?
The vehicle’s electrical system almost always decides. At equal power, 24V draws half the current, so lighter wiring and contactors; our dedicated guide explains when each pays off.
Single or double acting?
Single acting lifts under power and lowers by gravity (typical of a dump body); double acting drives both directions with a solenoid valve (liftgates, snow plows). The circuit follows the equipment’s function.
